This wall mural entitled Living Spirit has bought great joy to the community at Spiritus Aged care at Taigum in Brisbane's north. Once a dull, ugly brick wall housing large electricty boxes, the folding panels (created by Tracie Dunne Design Group Phone 3513 2900) now exist to brighten staff, residents and visitors days, presenting a corporate and spiritual view, based on the logo of what we might find in Heaven.
The Spiritus Aged Care logo is clearly visible. It is then extended into the rest of the wall mural through the fluttering doves, telling a story and supporting the centres symbol. When centre director, Anne Marie Cassaniti was presented thumbnail designs for the wall mural, she instantly knew the mural design was right for Spiritus and proved correct. The colour was very carefully chosen to make best of the orange brick walls, grey and blue floor and dark green trims...not the easiest decor to work with.
When Sharron was painting the piece, she received hundreds of compliments as to how enlightened and enriched people felt. Letters poured into the administration office from residents as to how the artwork had changed their lives. For most, the colours said it all; peaceful chunks of glorious green, blue green, blue, blue violet, violet with sparks of complimentary yellow orange all working together to brighten the area.
Decor Tips
- very long corridors need to feel shorter, darker colours or bright advancing colours will create this
- combine colours from the decor, even orange, green and blue and the unification will work in the areas favour
- bright colours will brighten a dark space and add freshness
- if little white is in your space, or black for that matter, introduce it for greater contrast and a focal point
