Cascade Collage

Scottish born Maggie studied art years ago and loves to dabble in a painting here and there.  Choosing a painting for her birthday, she couldn't find anything she liked and so she booked a Work and Play Picasso.

Maggie's appointment was at Christmas time and Maggie had created quite a Christmas wonderland.  Maggie was worried that her Christmas decorations would hinder Sharrons' ability to visualise what would best suit Maggie's space. No amount of decorations or clutter you may have in your home, will hinder Sharron!

Maggie wanted to create, "something with texture," so Sharron bought fabrics and beads to match her decor, even getting fabric codes so Maggie could have matching cushions.

It was a fun and fabulous workshop!  The laughs had flowed, experiences were shared, new skills were taught and Sharron ended up with Maggie's delightful Scottish lilt for weeks!

Maggie learnt how to paint a consistent textural background and how to balance collage elements across a large space.  She learnt to stand back and squint an eye (which can be quite hillarious) to see what stands out and how to rectify it.

Maggie loves her art and the difference it has made to her space and is eager to make more decorating changes following Sharron's Decor tips.

Decor tips

  • Take out cushions of a different hue (i.e. a different colour blue)
  • Very bright colours will attract the eye in a gentle colour scheme
  • Colours outside of your decor scheme will also stand out
  • The bigger the space, the more colour it can handle
  • Scatter your accent colour in small amounts for better balance
