For her 7th birthday, Jemima's mother treated her to very special Mermaid. Not just any Mermaid, but the Mermaid from her favorite story book, bought to life and painted to last a lifetime and Jemima's daughters lifetime too.
Designs on the Mermaids tail and the style of her hair are modelled from the storybook depiction, but painted realistically for adult appeal. Gold metallic mediums are used for a ancient look, Babylonian even, with fishy shaped eyes and Octopussy hair, this Mermaid is classical. We searched for the right face, one full of mystery, beauty and at the point of discovering...you.
The artwork was painted in Resene professional acrylic house paints which has the most brilliant colour imaginable. It took ages to paint. To ensure it will travel the years well, we ansconsed it with a layer of clear resin which makes the Mermaid look she is behind a sheet of crystal clear water and also blends and enriches the colours to the most amazingly gorgeous finish.
Our process is:
- Discuss the artwork at complimentary apointment and create a thumbnail draft
- Research and presentation draft for your approval
- Transfer to the canvas and paint a section in style for your approval
- Show you other art in simliar colours on your wall so you can visualise colour and or style
- Send you a half way image or invite you to the studio for approval
- Email final photo upon completion
