Leanne loved the idea of her children Taylor, Samual and herself together painting a glittery, bright and large canvas for her poorly lit stairwell. To match her homes decor of Yellow-Green and Red-Orange and a preferring semi-abstract design, we chose to paint "Frogs in Reeds."
The idea for the stairwell is to add a chandelier to dramatically increase light. The artwork has tiny rounded diamantes glittering throughout, which will catch the light and further reflect it, making a huge and fascinating difference to the space.
Later, a few smaller matching pieces will be created to add more colour and affect whilst building theme and atmosphere.
We all had a fabulous morning with the family enjoying their art experience and looking forward to more.
Decor Tips.
- Dark stairwells are an ideal opportunity for glamorous chandelier style lighting. Make sure the light is well proportioned to the cavity, not too big, not too small and not hung too high or worse, too low.
- Stairwells present a rare opportunity to hang art on the diagonal as it goes up the stairs. Art should not be hung diagonally in normal spaces as it attracts the eye upwards to the ceiling creating discord in your decor.
- Small spaces suit lighter colours and less very bright colour.
- Greens and Yellows being receding colours, won't appear to take up space.
- Sparks of colours which advance in space like Reds hues are fine in small quantities.
- Verticle lines will accentuate height, whereas horizontal lines will make a space appear wider, something to consider if carpeting or laying metal carpet rods as stays.
